Homework
Homework for ELA includes reading a book of your child's choice for at least 30 minutes each. I strongly believe in growing a love for reading! Each night students can practice their spelling pattern, if needed. Also, students should be participating in the work of the home (cooking, cleaning, chores, etc.), playing outside, and eating meals with family members.
Reading Curriculum: EL
Our meaning-based language arts curriculum is called Expeditionary Learning. You can go to the website to learn more about the program: https://eleducation.org/
For foundational skills (phonics, grammar, and vocabulary skills) the district uses Journeys.
Johnson/Somers/Bowden Team
Mrs. Johnson teaches language arts, Mrs. Somers teaches math, and Mrs. Bowden teaches science, social studies, and Boost. To learn more about the Eureka Math curriculum or the science and social studies skills, please visit Mrs. Somers' and Mrs. Bowden's websites.
